Rabbi Addresses Congress Before Israeli Prime Minister

The Conservative Synagogue's Rabbi Jeremy Wiederhorn opens today's session with a prayer.

Rabbi Jeremy Wiederhorn, of Westport's Conservative Synagogue, will give the opening prayer when the U.S. House of Representatives meet today.

Wiederhorn is the guest of U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-4. The prayer coincides with a joint speech Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is giving Congress. With constant Israeli-Arab tensions and Palestine inching toward statehood, some pundits call the prime minister's speech "make or break."

According to Wiederhorn's bio on The Conservative Synagogue website, he has been the rabbi there since 2008. When Hamas struck Gaza with missiles, he planned an emergency mission. He also also extensively toured the country.
