Snow, Rain Likely for End of Week

Minor to moderate snow accumulation is possible, warns the National Weather Service.

It appears winter just doesn't know when to quit.

The National Weather Service is calling for a mix of snow and rain between Wednesday night and Friday, with a possibility for strong winds, heavy precipitation, and "minor to moderate snow accumulation."

Whether March goes out with a bang or whimper, the service reports, depends on the track of a system expected to emerge from the Mid-Atlantic Thursday night and "deepen rapidly as it tracks northeastward over the Atlantic on Friday."

A mix of rain and snow is then likely to roll in Thursday night and continue through midday before switching over to rain only. A bit more snow may fall Friday night before the forecast calls for sunny conditions on Saturday.
