What Fairfield County towns are ranked tops when it comes to average commute time?

A recent study conducted by The Business Journals’ On Numbers publication, based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2009 American Community Survey, ranks 3,012 “small” US towns with populations between 10,000 and 50,000 based on average commute time.

The study awarded points for every worker whose commute takes less than 30 minutes — and took away points for every commuter who said their commute was longer than that.

The study does not break down commutes by mode of transportation.

The BizJournals also released studies ranking medium (50,000 to 100,000) towns and large cities (100,000+) on average commute time, as well as consolidated standings for the nation as a whole.
