After seven years on the board, Don O'Day has reportedly resigned from his post as chairman of the .
According to a report in the Westport News, O'Day, a Democrat on the seven member board, announced his resignation effective immediately during Monday's meeting.
O'Day said he has been struggling to balance his job as the chief administrative officer of CitiMortgage's risk management division in Stamford with his volunteer role on the board, according to the report.
The Democratic Town Committee will recommend a candidate to replace O'Day, as the seat must be filled by a Democrat under town charter. However it will be up to the Board of Education to accept that recommendation.
O'Day has reportedly recommended board Vice Chairman Jim Marpe, a Republican, to succeed him as chairman.
