The most common issue with cars during the winter months is a loss in tire pressure. Tire and rubber seals wear over time and eventually corrosion builds between the tire and rim. The corrosion is ‘exasperated’ by the extremely cold weather, which disrupts the seal and releases air from the tire. The result is an indicator light illuminating in the car’s dashboard, and Ostreicher’s shop getting flooded with concerned drivers in the morning.

“People are coming in all day long. With the air monitoring systems that are so precise today, as soon as the temperature drops they all need air,” he said.

It is good to make sure your vehicle is up to date on regular maintenance and topped off with all necessary fluids. Check your tire treads and have your tires rotated. The last thing you want is to be driving on bald or dry rotted tires during the winter.
