Westport Finance Director Announces Retirement

Westport First Selectman Gordon Joseloff announced Friday that the town's finance director, John Kondub, informed him of his intention to retire after 35 years as a municipal employee.

Kondub, who will retire effective Feb. 1, outlined a timetable for an orderly succession beginning with appointment of a search committee, an interview process, hiring of a candidate, and an overlapping orientation period, Joseloff said.

Kondub, 57, was appointed finance director in August 2008 after serving as acting finance director since the death on Feb. 19, 2008 of Finance Director Donald J. Miklus, 67, who had been a town employee for 42 years.

Kondub, a lifelong Westporter, joined the town’s staff in 1976 as an accountant after graduating from Villanova University with a B.S. in accounting.
