An electric car demonstration day will be open to the public at the Westport train station (Eastbound side) on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will be a great opportunity to learn more about the new Westport Solar Transportation Hub, featuring trackside, “Preferred Green,” plug-in electric vehicle (EV) parking spaces for holders of train station parking permits.
Visitors can experience plug-in electric vehicles first-hand on Saturday. A number of electric car dealers will display and demonstrate their vehicles, providing test drives for those interested. Representatives will explain how electric cars work and the significant savings for EV owners from reduced operating costs. Visitors can also find out more about the “Preferred Green” parking program for Westport train station permit holders. Refreshments will be served.

The town of Westport is promoting the use of solar power for the operation of the Eastbound train station house and up to twenty electric car charging stations. It is the first project of its kind to be launched in Connecticut. “The Hub” is scheduled to open during the second week of December, powered by Encon Solar.
