Westporter of the Week: Mary Lee Clayton

"Professional volunteer" Mary Lee Clayton has dedicated herself to volunteering for a number of Westport-based organizations. She is the co-chair of this year's Yankee Doodle Fair, sponsored by the Westport Woman's Club.

Name: Mary Lee Clayton

Occupation: "Professional" volunteer, mostly at the Westport Woman's Club. Co-chair of the Yankee Doodle Fair and Chair of the WWC Garden Department.

How long have you lived in Westport? I lived in Westport for 14 years.  I am currently an "ex-pat" Westporter living in Milford.

Favorite place in Westport? Definitely the Woman's Club, but also Compo Beach and Main Street.

Favorite restaurant in Westport? The Yankee Doodle Fair International Food Court; it’s all delicious especially when followed by a great dessert from the Gourmet Club's Bake Sale in the Auditorium.

Why Westport? It’s lively, ever changing, never dull and home to some great, committed people.

Mary Lee is a professional volunteer who works selflessly and tirelessly for the fundraising activities of the Westport Woman's Club by co-chairing the Yankee Doodle Fair and its other efforts to raise money for charities and scholarships. I am so happy that Mary Lee and Dorothy Curran have been recognized for their achievements for the Woman's club and many other local volunteer organizations. As a member of the club, I have seen first-hand their commitment, enthusiasm and humor.
