Wind Causes Power Outages in Westport

CL&P reports those without power is in the hundreds.

Due to the windy conditions, about 715 Westporters were without power as of 10:20 a.m. Sunday.

That's nearly 6 percent of the Connecticut Light & Power Co. customers in town.

The National Weather Service reports that strong wind conditions will continue today and freezing conditions are expected tonight. The wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. today and a freeze warning is in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Monday.

Winds could gust up to 50 mph, causing some downed trees or large branches, and continued outages. Temperatures Monday morning are expected to be between 20 and 32 degrees.
