Your Weekend Forecast

Westport Weather Whiz Jacob Meisel reports.

Well, we have another storm moving into the area.

Most people would think that a coastal storm moving to our south in the middle of January would mean a big snow storm.  Sadly, they are wrong.  While we will receive a lot of precipitation from this storm, it will be completely rain.  The air is just not cold enough to support snow, so while northern Connecticut may see up to six inches, we will see nothing.  The storm will start around noon on Sunday, and continue throughout the night Sunday into early Monday morning.  We will see up to an inch or two of rain, which will cause a lot of flooding with all the hard ground.

Saturday should be nice and mild with a high in the 40s, with Monday being breezier and a little cooler with a high in the mid to upper 30s.

We should see a gradual warming trend throughout the week next week until Thursday, when the trough will dip down farther south and the El Nino effect will really start up again.  This means cooler air Thursday, and I am monitoring a potential coastal storm again next Friday.  Right now, some models are saying snow with it, one saying upwards of 6 inches, but it is still too far out to know for sure.
