Letter: Support Melissa Kane for Second Selectman

Letter submitted in support of selectman candidate.

Editor:

I enthusiastically endorse Melissa Kane for Second Selectman.

Melissa is strongly committed to strengthening our community through a focus on the arts, education and the environment.  She has been actively involved with and taken leadership positions in just about every one of the key organizations that help make Westport stand out in each of these areas.

She has supported the arts by serving on the board of the Westport Library, where she was one of it’s most active and effective members, and before that as a member of the Library Friends board.  In addition, Melissa has been a member of the Westport Arts Center and the Westport Schools Permanent Art Collection committee.  She has strengthened our education system by being a member of the Kings Highway PTA, where she was a room parent and an arts smarts coordinator.  She has protected our environment by serving for the past several years as Vice-Chair of the GVI.  In addition, she has also been a member of the Westport Young Women's League and the Conservative Synagogue.

As second selectman, I know that Melissa will be a tremendous help to our next First Selectman, Helen Garten, who I am sure will come to rely and depend upon her advice and wisdom.  The two of them will make a great team, and I look forward to the leadership they will provide to our Town over the next four years.

Signed,

Andrew B. Nevas
