Adult Education at The Conservative Synagogue
According
to a recent Pew Research Center Study American Jews overwhelmingly say they are
proud to be Jewish and have a strong sense of belonging to the Jewish people.
However the survey also suggests a shift in Jewish identity. One-in-five Jews,
or 22 percent, now describe themselves as having no religion, according to the
study.
Dr.
Jack Wertheimer, Professor of American Jewish History at the Jewish Theological
Seminary, will lead a discussion about the study on Dec. 15 at The Conservative
Synagogue in Westport.
“The Pew study of America's Jews offers us a valuable
diagnostic instrument to evaluate how we are doing as a community. This lecture
will examine the good news, the bad news and the implications as we go
forward,” Wertheimer said.
