Cara Enteles: Mirror to Nature

Amy Simon Fine Art located at 1869 Post Road
East, Westport is pleased to announce the September 6th opening of Cara Enteles: Mirror to Nature.  The show features paintings reflecting
the artists’s avid interest in the environment. Enteles is particularly concerned with many
questions about the natural and unnatural circumstances of nature. Her work is
about environmental issues imposed on the natural world by human activity. She
observes that often the consequences of our actions throw nature off balance or
destroy it entirely.She examines controversial
subjects such as the disappearance of honey bees; the decline of pollinating
animals and threats to water pollution such as fracking and nuclear power. Though
these issues are disturbing, her aesthetic observations are translated into
extraordinarily beautiful paintings of plants, water, pollination, etc.

Cara Enteles paints primarily on two

different surfaces, aluminum sheets, and plexiglas layers.  The aluminum sheets are a more industrial
looking surface, an intriguing contrast to her subject matter of flowers, insects
and nature.  The plexiglas works are
clear or colored transparent materials that evoke a three dimensional effect
enhancing the beauty of her subjects.

Enteles is a New York artist whose studio is in Brooklyn.  She has exhibited in both the U.S. and abroad.  Her works are included in numerous collections such as Microfsoft; Pricewaterhouse Coopers; Royal Caribbean Cruise Line; Intercontinental Hotel and Tiffany and Company. The exhibition runs from September 6th through October 19th.  There is an opening reception, Friday, September 6th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  The artist will be present.
