Wakeman Town Farm has teamed up with Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens to bring you a down-home Christmas Tree & Greenery Sale on Saturday, December 1 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., followed by a festive Christmas Tree lighting at 5 p.m.

Please join Sal Gilbertie and the Wakeman Town Farm team at WTF, 134 Cross Highway, Westport, for your holiday trees, wreaths and greenery. Then, at 5 p.m., all are invited to Wakeman Town Farm’s First Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, a revival of a longtime Wakeman Family tradition. The farmers will light the tree and visitors will enjoy a mug of hot chocolate around the bonfire with friends and neighbors to kick off the season! Bring the whole family.

This year, before you run out to the nearest big box store hawking cheap Christmas trees, why not consider buying local—which allows you to get a fragrant fresh-cut tree in a warm, friendly environment. You will have an enjoyable holiday experience while supporting a small local business with deep roots in the community.

At the event, you will be able to choose from assorted Fraser Firs (the type of tree chosen by The White House), undecorated wreaths, plus balsam wreaths decorated with pine, cedar and herbs and assorted natural decorations grown at Gilbertie’s Wholesale Farm in Easton.

The Gilbertie family has serving the local community from their family herb gardens, store and greenhouses on Sylvan Lane since the early 1920s.

Did you know that Christmas tree farms stabilize soil, protect water supplies and provide refuge for wildlife while creating scenic green belts? For every real Christmas tree harvested, three seedlings are planted in its place, which, in turn, reduces global greenhouse gas effects! (Agricultural Resource Center).

Please join Wakeman Town Farm on Saturday, December 1 from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. for the Gilbertie’s Christmas Tree & Holiday Greenery Sale, followed by the Wakeman Town Farm Christmas Tree Lighting at 5 p.m.
