STAPLES HOLIDAY BOOK FAIR
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 11TH, 9AM-9PM
Staples High School PTA is sponsoring a ONE-DAY HOLIDAY Book Fair at Westport’s Barnes and Noble on Tuesday, December 11th, 9am-9pm. Proceeds will fund the SHS PTA’s Wrecker Mini Grants and other PTA funded programs. Wrecker mini-grants fund enrichment projects proposed by the school community that enhance the current curriculum and student development and are not currently in the school budget.
Two special events are planned for the day. From 2:00-4:00pm local resident and Westport Boys Varsity Soccer coach Dan Woog will be doing a book signing of his latest book: We Kick Balls: True Stories From the Youth Soccer Wars. In over 30 years as a youth and high school soccer coach, Dan Woog has seen it all. Crazy kids. Crazier parents. Amazing games. Funny, weird, fantastic, awful situations. And that’s just one day. Soccer has been very, very good to Dan. He’s taken teams around the world. He’s been to Pele’s house, coached in front of 77,000 people at the Meadowlands, helped raise $25,000 at a carwash, and acted in a soccer movie. He’s made incredible friendships, forged lifelong bonds, and had them tested by too many deaths. He’s learned what makes teenagers tick. He’s learned a lot about life – and about himself -- along the way. Now it’s time to tell those tales.
Dan often says, “There’s more to life than soccer. And there’s more to soccer than soccer.” We Kick Balls is a book about kids, life, and everything that happens to everyone, on and off the field. This book is a great holiday gift for your Staples student (not only soccer players).
Later that evening from 5:00-7:00pm, our very own Staples Jazz Duo, Collective Jazz Project will be providing entertainment throughout the store.
Don’t forget to visit us at the gift wrap table for a chance to win one of three door prizes generously donated by Jonathan Adler. Free gift wrapping will be provided by PTA parent volunteers and Staples students from the ABC House and Student Ambassador Club.
Buy books, movies, games, toys, music, Nook or treats in the Barnes and Noble Cafe, and mention “STAPLES” to the cashier when you checkout in order for Staples to get our portion of the sale.
