Staples Wreckers "Get Your Pink On" Breast Cancer Awareness Football Game

Hey Westport, “Get Your Pink On” with The Staples Wreckers!

Join their efforts to raise money and awareness at their third annual Breast Cancer Fundraising football game against Trumbull HS on Friday evening, October 19, 7 p.m. under the lights at Staples stadium.

The school is in sports pink week mode with varsity soccer, volleyball and field hockey teams also playing for the cause this week. The last few weeks leading up to this game, the Wrecker football players are raising funds by selling t-shirts, hats and rally towels during lunch waves in the school cafeteria and on game day. This year’s t-shirt “Defy, Wreck, Cure” is the team’s slogan and on game day, players will wear pink receiving gloves to show their support. In addition, the cheerleaders will be contributing their share from bake sales.

All monies raised will be donated to "Pink Aid" (www.pinkaid.org), a local non-profit organization started by Andrew Mitchell of Westport's Mitchell family. Pink Aid provides the necessary funds, which support services to help uninsured and under-insured women in need in our community. This year’s Pink Aid grant recipients are  *Norwalk Hospital Smilow Family Breast Health Center and *St. Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound. The Wreckers want another successful "Pink Out" and ask that all attendees that evening wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. Last year’s pink game event was a huge success raising $6,000 and the Wreckers hope to exceed those efforts playing to a crowd of cheering pink fans. Come to the game and “Get Your Pink On”.

Join the fun and enjoy a great evening of Wrecker football while helping to raise awareness and funds for local women in need in our area.  As a community; be part of the cause and Let’s Wreck Breast Cancer Together.  For additional information, contact Tammy Zelkowitz tszelk@aol.com
