Take a Seat! Chair Yoga - Get Fit While You Sit

a certified instructor in chair yoga, will be
teaching a free class at the Westport Library on January 13, 2014
from noon to 1 PM. Chair yoga is a gentle method of yoga which tones
the body and calms the mind. In chair yoga, a chair replaces the
traditional yoga mat; all movements are performed while sitting,
which eliminates stress on your joints and just about any pose that
can be done standing, sitting or lying on a mat can be adapted to
sitting on a chair. The benefits of this practice are many: increased
muscle tissue, which accelerates your metabolism, reduction of pain
and stiffness from achy joints, decreased blood sugar levels and
reduction of stress. Beth has practiced yoga and numerous
methods of physical fitness for decades and fell in love with the
concept of chair yoga when her own body was challenged with knee
issues.
