A class designed to help teenagers cope with the social stress in today’s environment. Meditation classes provide teens with a mindfulness framework to develop healthy responses to the ever-changing world around and inside of them. They will learn how to express their innate qualities of being present with what is happening, respect for others and nature, loving kindness and compassion.
Carolyn Yates, M.A., of Westport Family Counseling will be facilitating a group discussion following each yoga class. She will focus on empowering teens with the skills, knowledge, and self-awareness needed to navigate the turbulent waters of adolescence. Some of the topics that will be discussed are stress management, peer relations, self-esteem, and decision-making. The goals of the discussion portion of the group are to build resiliency, self-confidence and healthy interpersonal relationships.
