Westport Historical Society's Friday Film Series

"A Gathering of
Glory" was filmed for Westport's
millennium celebration in 2000 and viewed at the Historical Society, Town Hall,
and in venues throughout the year. Narrated by Actor Keir Dullea, it was also viewed
by TV audiences on CPTV.

Over the years it has been
seen in Westport
and Weston schools, Rotaries, the Libraries and many private film societies. In
this memorable film by award-winning documentarian, Martin West, all the Arts
-- literary, visual. music and theatre – are discussed by academy award winners
including Christopher Plummer, Joanne Woodward, James Naughton, writers
including Evan Hunter, the renowned art critic, Hilton Kramer and Oscar winning
composer John Corigliano.  These
personalities speak of the contributions of the amazing creative lives that
have given Westport
and

Weston an enduring reputation as an Arts haven.   How they
have made their mark on our schools is discussed by students and concludes eloquently with a statement by Claire Gold, then Superintendent of Schools in Westport.
