C.R.O.P Hunger Walk

Students from Westport and Weston recently gathered to begin planning for the April 10th CROP Hunger Walk. C.R.O.P., Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty, is one of the oldest charity walks in the nation and was reintroduced to the area last year as a youth led event. The Westport/Weston CROP Hunger Walk is the only Crop Walk in the nation that is led by youth.

The CROP Walk is a symbolic walk; however, for many around the world, walking is a daily means for survival. They walk for food, they walk for shelter, they walk to work, to school, and to find refuge. Funds that are raised on April 10th will go to help communities receive food in emergency cases, and will also provide needed resources to help produce better harvests and access to clean water. 25% of the money that is raised will stay here in our area to help fight hunger.

Registration for the April 10th Walk begins at 1pm at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East in Westport. The 3.5 mile walk will begin at 1:30pm. We invite all of our friends and neighbors to join together on April 10th, truly making this a community effort.
