Sunrise Rotary to Honor Globe-Trotting Staples Student

Westport Sunrise Rotary will honor Elizabeth Woodson, a multi-talented and truly accomplished GFA senior at its regular breakfast meeting on Friday, November 19 at Bobby Q's on Main Street, Westport.

Five years ago, as a sixth grader, Ms. Woodson spoke to the Westport Rotary about a fundraiser for Save The Children Tsunami Fund.  Four years later she talked to the Rotary Club of Coimbatore, India about her work in local orphanages and to promote Save Our Daughters International, an organization that works to fund higher education for poor and orphan girls.

Ms. Woodson brought Save Our Daughters to the U. S. and this past summer she and nine Greens Farms Academy female classmates used their Ten-for-Ten project to host a local event that involved international dignitaries, scholars and state politicians and raised $10,000 to help send 10 orphaned high school girls in Coimbatore, India to college.
