Party at Compo Beach to Recognize Westport's Sustainability Efforts

The free BBQ will be held on Thursday, July 11 in recognition of Westport's Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge Achievements.

Revel in Westport's Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge achievement -- residents completed more Home Energy Solutions visits and energy efficiency upgrades than the 13 other towns that participated in the state grant challenge.

The Challenge has rewarded Westporters' commitment to reducing home energy costs with the following:

  • Electric vehicle truck
  • Electric vehicle charging station
  • Heavy-duty recycling bins
  • Bicycle racks
  • Solar lights

The town's Green Task Force will continue the green effort with the Stay Cool Westport Campaign, which promotes Home Energy Solutions (HES) visits and Energy Efficiency upgrades throughout July and August, according to a release from the task force.

All co-pays during this campaign will be given to the Westport Warm-Up Fund, thanks to generous donations from New England Smart Energy and New England Conservation Services, the chosen HES vendors for this campaign. The Warm-Up Fund is a Department of Human Services program funded by donations that provides eligible Westport households with funds to purchase fuel during the cold winter months.

The Green Task Force will kick off the Stay Cool Westport campaign with a free BBQ at Compo Beach on Thursday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m.
