Greens Farms Academy Goes to 13-2

Greens Farms Academy boys basketball defeats Hamden Hall 80-61

The Dragons boys basketball fed off of the energy of a hearty Friday night crowd and got out to an aggressive 14-0 start on visiting Hamden Hall.  From there, Greens Farms never looked back and rolled on to post a 80-61 win.

Zach Baines (Stamford) was a great energy burst. He pulled together a double-double by half time, and finished with 17 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots. Matt Tate (Greenwich) tied his own school record with 13 assists in the game. Hunter Eggers (Greenwich) led the scorers with 18 points.

Sean Obi (Anabra, Nigeria) moved 13 points closer to the school's all-time career scoring mark. He needs another 109 points to tie Dan Chase's (Weston) 1,279 total. Obi is breaking his own school record for total rebounds every time he grabs one. He is only 25 away from the very rare high school mark of 1,000 career rebounds.

Every member of the GFA squad brought cheers from the crowd. Scotty Deutsch (Southport) put in eight points. Sam Hodge (Fairfield) scored in multiple ways. Andrew Chase (Weston) shredded the Hamden full court press. Pat Ryan (Darien) and Van Barnet (Ridgefield) were terrific on defense, holding Hamden's big gun scorer to just four points.

The win puts GFA at 10-1 in Fairchester Athletic Association play, giving them a 1.5 game lead in first place, with only three league games remaining. The Dragons are also 13-2 overall, and currently ranked #1 in their New England class by MaxPreps.com's power ranking computers.
