Preview of Seven Angels Theatre Halo High School Theatre Awards

The Halo Awards will be given out at Waterbury's Palace Theater on May 27 & 28. The Halos are presented at the largest and most prestigious high school theatre award event in the state.

SEVEN ANGELS THEATRE PRESENTS THE 11TH ANNUAL HALO  HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE AWARDS AT THE WATERBURY PALACE THEATER MAY 27 & 28. 

Seven Angels Theatre is proud to announce the participating schools for this year’s Halo Awards. These awards are presented for excellence in high school theatre.  The Halos are the premier high school theatre award program in Connecticut.  The halos keep growing and growing with 48 schools participating this year with  participation from almost every corner of the state.  New schools participating this year are: Avon, Mercy & Xavier, Trinity Catholic, Valley Regional, Conard and New Britain. As in the past, many of the schools will be performing during the awards.

Awards will be Tuesday and Wednesday, May 27 & 28 from 6 PM-10 PM each night at the beautiful Palace Theater in Waterbury. This year actress and motivational speaker, Michele Gotay, will be hosting the awards both nights.

This will be a gala Red Carpet event for the nominated students. Awards will be in numerous categories including Best Actor and Actress in a Musical, Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Musical, Best Acting by an Ensemble Cast, Best Specialty Ensemble in a Musical, Best Student Choreographer, plus categories for lighting, design, stage management, special effects, and many more.  One of the highlights of the night will be the presentation of the Gypsy Robe.  The winner is a chorus member from the school awarded Best Chorus Ensemble.

Plus, this year Seven Angels Theatre is adding a $1,000 scholarship awarded each evening to a student who will be pursuing a career in the arts, a $250 cash award for the recipient of the Gypsy Robe, a scholarship to DanceMolinari in New York City, and the opportunity to travel to New York to sit at the table with Seven Angels Theatre Artistic Director, Semina De Laurentis for auditions to one of their upcoming Equity productions.

Never been to the Halo Awards before? You have two chances to see them this year on March 27 & 28. The Halos are an uplifting experience for the students who participate and those who come to attend the award ceremonies. This year’s nominations will be announced the week of May 20th.
