Jean Carter Bosch, 85, Longtime Westport Resident

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. at Green's Farms Congregational Church.

Jean Carter Bosch, wife of the late Robert Edwin Bosch of Westport, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013. She was 85.

The daughter of the late Earle Carter and Marguerite Beldon, she was born Dec. 11, 1927 in Springfield, Massachusetts where she grew up. Jean graduated from Russell Sage College with her Physical Education teaching degree and later taught at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Mass. While attending college she met, and later married, her husband Robert.

Jean & Robert moved to Westport 50 years ago. She was a member of the Westport Women’s Club, an active member of their Investment club, The Minuteman Yacht Club, the Saugatuck River Power Squadron, the Y’s Women and was an active member of Saugatuck Congregational Church.

Jean lived her life to the fullest. She deeply loved her family, friends, theater, dining out, classical music and dogs and cats. Her warm smile, gentle sense of humor, wonderful sense of adventure, and mature wisdom will be missed.

She enjoyed tennis and paddle tennis, boating, spending time with her close circle of friends and neighbors. Jean traveled with her husband and friends several times a year and spent late summer on Nantucket Island.

Jean is survived by her children Jeffrey Bosch of Branford, Eric Bosch and his wife Diane of Westport, Steven Bosch and his wife Mary Sue of Redding, and Robin Bosch of Old Greenwich; eight grandchildren, Greg and wife Renee Bosch, Kate Bosch, Nick and Mikaela Bosch, Leah, Carter and Will Bosch, and Dean Waibel, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Florence Carter Gaylord.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Green’s Farms Congregational Church, 71 Hillandale Road, Westport. Burial will be private in the Evergreen Cemetery prior to the service.
