Connecticut Humane Society Proudly Hosted Free Canine Behavior Workshop

NEWINGTON, CT – March 3, 2014 – The Connecticut Humane Society proudly hosted a free canine behavior workshop on February 26 at their Newington facility. The workshop was presented by Pepe Peruyero, internationally recognized canine trainer/behaviorist, as part of the efforts of the Connecticut Humane Society and GoodDog! Obedience and Behavior Modification. More than fifty animal welfare professionals, representing thirty-four municipalities across Connecticut and one private shelter attended the training. The workshop topics included reading canine behavior, safe animal handling, gaining and maintaining control in an aggressive situation, investigative questions, and public perception.

Pepe Peruyero is an internationally recognized canine behaviorist and trainer. His experience in law enforcement canine handling, combined with his love and respect for dogs, laid the foundation for the hugely successful J&K Canine Academy located in Florida. Pepe’s philosophy is to establish an environment of stability and trust for dogs, which will motivate them to follow their owner’s commands. He coaches clients about how a dog thinks, its natural instincts, and what triggers them to respond in a desirable way through the use of positive reinforcement.

Jill Meyer is the owner and operator of GoodDog! Obedience and Behavior Modification located in Brookfield, CT. Jill began working professionally with dogs as a canine handler in the scent detection field, which inspired her to work with dogs in obedience and behavior modification. She was personally trained by Pepe Peruyero at the J&K Canine Academy and now works with clients and their dogs one-on-one in a classroom setting.
