Patch Picks: Easter Eats in Westport

Lamb, ham, or seafood? Whatever your favorite Easter dining traditions may be, here are some places to find them.

Eggs and lamb may be the iconic Easter foods, laden as they are with spiritual significance. But here’s a little-known fact about a favorite snack: pretzels, according to Snyder’s of Hanover, began as a Lenten treat for children. The pretzel’s traditional shape was meant to represent arms folded in prayer.

Puts a whole new spin on putting out a bowl of pretzels on Easter, doesn’t it? At any rate, Westport also offers plenty of opportunities for enjoying eggs and lamb (and them some).

, which in 2007 earned Connecticut Magazine’s ‘Best Continental Dining’ award, will be serving a sit-down dinner all day on Easter, beginning at noon. The fixed price menu is either $32 or $42 and includes an appetizer, entrée (including ham, seafood, and lamb options), and dessert.

banging brunch menu will be available Easter Sunday from 11:00am-3:00pm. Dinner service begins at 5:00pm, and ham, lamb, and seafood will be on the menu.

For those who enjoy dining-in, and are both taking menu orders for Easter.

The Fresh Market offers pork, lamb, or turkey as well as rolls, cakes, and pies.  Online orders are accepted until April 19 at 2:00pm, though customers can place orders after that date in person or by phone. For more information, call (203) 227-2910.

Balducci’s customers can select a custom dinner, which includes ham, leg of lamb, beef tenderloin, chicken or salmon as the entrée and includes bread, starters, sides, and dessert. A brunch menu (including frittatas, quiches, and fruit platters) is also available. Orders are taken in person or by phone at (203) 254-5200. 

Those looking to complement their own Easter menus might enjoy adding one of to their table. The award winning pies are made with fresh, seasonal fruits. Though the existing menu is quite extensive, Michele’s Pies, whose Westport store will be celebrating its grand opening on April 16 and 17, will also be unveiling Easter specials.
