Blotter: Domestic Disturbance Leads to Gun Charge

A reported domestic disturbance led to a weapons charge for a Westport man on May 1. According to the police, after responding to a domestic disturbance on Westfair Drive, police asked Nastasia if there were any weapons on the house. He stated that he had an old .22 rifle unloaded in a closest, and he gave police the weapon. Police found out that he was a convicted felon and was not allowed to own a gun. Nastasia’s bail was set at $2,500 and he is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court on May 11.

Stephanie Bernier, 20, of Lees Lane, was arrested on April 28 at 6:25 a.m. on a charge of second-degree failure to appear. According to police, she turned herself in for failing to appear in court for an unspecified charge. Her bail was set at $2,500 and she’s scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on May 9.

Yashmin Smith, 19, of Norwalk, was arrested on April 28 at 9:45 p.m. on a charge of second-degree failure to appear. According to the police, Smith was stopped for having an illegible license plate. Police saw that she was wanted in Trumbull for failing to appear in court. Smith is scheduled to appear in court on May 9. Her bail was set at $2,500.

A Westport mother left her children unattended in her SUV on April 29 and was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a child. According to the police, Lisa Keusch, 43, of Punch Bowl Drive, left children aged three and ten in her vehicle on Main Street. Police said that the children were not in distress and were in “good spirits.” When she return, she apologized to police and said she did not know children under 12 couldn’t be left in a vehicle. She was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on May 9.

Noelle Anastasia, 21, of Hales Court, was arrested on May 1 at 12:38 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to display lights. According to police, an officer saw Anastasia driving on Saugatuck Avenue with no headlights on. She was pulled over and failed field sobriety tests. Her bail was set at $500 and she is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on May 12.
