Blotter: Suspected Drunken Drivers Damage Property Around Town

Police reports from March 22-27.

The following arrest information was provided by the Westport Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

An allegedly drunken Westport man tried driving his vehicle up the wheelchair ramp at the Westport Woman’s Club on 44 Imperial Ave. He was just a few hundred feet from his home. According to the report, police were dispatched on the night of March 22. Benjamin Biggers, 53, of Imperial Avenue, was seen driving in the parking lot and was pulled over. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, third degree criminal mischief and simple trespass. The handicap ramp was damaged. Biggers’ bail was set at $2,500 and he is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on March 31.

Keenan Perez, 41, of White Plains, N.Y., was arrested on March 27 at 2:44 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence, evading responsibility and failure to drive right. According to the report, Perez was found stopped in the middle of Post Road West near Sylvan Road. The car had substantial front end damage. The officer found that a utility pole at 170 Post Road W. had been hit. Perez failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. His bail was set at $5,000 and he is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on April 7.

Zachary Schultz, 23, of Fairfield, was arrested on March 23 at 7:27 a.m. on a charge of second-degree failure to appear. According to police, Schultz turned himself in at the Westport Police Department. He was wanted for failing to appear in court after he was charged with numerous motor vehicle violations in 2008. Schultz’ bail was set at $1,000 and he is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on April 1.

Teresa D’Alessio, 21, of Stamford, was arrested on March 23 at 9:45 a.m. on a charge of sixth-degree larcency. According to the report, D’Alessio was served a warrant in state Superior Court in Norwalk from a January incident at CVS. She allegedly shoplifted from the store. D’Alessio’s bail was set at $1,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court on April 1.

Stephanie Caicedo, 19, Lincoln Street, was arrested on March 24 at 5:31 p.m. on a charge of second-degree failure to appear. According to the report, Caicedo turned herself after failing to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk. The original charge stems from a 2009 arrest for possession of marijuana. Caicedo’s bail was set at $5,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court on April 4.

Martin Silvestro, 27, of Norwalk, was arrested on March 24 at 10 a.m. on a charge if sixth-degree larceny. According to the report, a warrant was served when Silvestro was in custody in state Superior Court in Norwalk on unrelated charges. He is accused of stealing a wallet from inside a vehicle in February. Silvestro’s bail was set at $2,500.

Robert Baker, 55, of Milford, was arrested on March 24 at 5:48 p.m. on charges of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. According to the report, Baker was pulled over on the Sherwood Island Connector for not displaying a front license plate. The officer smelled marijuana from inside of the vehicle and found a smoking pipe and a bag containing residue from the drug. Baker’s bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on April 4.

When Westport detectives arrived at state Superior Court in Norwalk to arrest a burglary suspect already in custody, they ended up finding his girlfriend and alleged accomplice. Daniel Abraham, 38, and Pamela Young, 40, were both charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree larceny. Bail for the Bridgeport residents was set at $25,000 for Young and $75,000 for Abraham. The thefts reportedly happened in February.

Luis Melendez, 31, of Waterbury, was arrested on March 25 at 5:45 p.m. on a charge of sixth-degree larceny. According to the report, Melendez was pulled over on Greens Farms Road for not displaying a front license plate. A computer check revealed that the one plate on the car had been stolen. Melendez’ bail was set at $500 and is scheduled to appear in state State Superior Court on April 4.
