Bridgeport Man Arrested For Bad Checks

Westport Police Reports for Oct. 5-10

[Editor's note: The following arrest information was provided by the Westport Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.]

William Horlacher, 46, of Bridgeport was arrested via warrant on Oct. 6 for third degree larceny, sixth degree larceny and four counts of issuing a bad check for allegedly issuing bad personal checks at different businesses around town. Police said Horlacher was served the warrant while appearing at Norwalk Superior Court. Police said Horlacher passed bad checks for a Specialized brand bicycle valued at over $2,000 at Cycle Dynamics in August; a bicycle valued at over $2,000 at Targetraining Tri & Cycle in July; clothing at Athletic Shoe Factory valued at over $200 in July; and a collectible coin valued at over $2,000 at Sam Sloat Coins in August. In all cases the checks he passed were drawn against a closed account, police said. Horlacher was held on bond and arraigned the next day.

George Padilla, 22, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Oct. 5 for failure to appear in court following a motor vehicle stop. According to police, an officer on patrol on I-95 noticed that a rear taillight on the vehicle Padilla was driving was out. In addition the officer noticed that the car’s marker plate was in the rear window, instead of mounted on the bumper. After stopping the vehicle near the southbound Exit 18 ramp the officer learned that Padilla had a warrant out for his arrest for failure to appear out of New Haven. Police said the original charges were third degree assault and breach of peace. Police said Padilla was also charged with various motor vehicle charges. He was taken into custody and later released after posting bond.

Rodney Tucker, 23, of Derby was arrested on Oct. 6 for failure to appear in court following a motor vehicle stop. According to police an officer on patrol on Post Road West stopped Tucker’s vehicle for reasons not specified and learned that he had a warrant out for his arrest. The original charges were not specified in the report. Tucker was later released after posting bond.

Richard Tracy, 49, of Coral Springs, Fla., was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 8. According to police, an officer on patrol ran the marker plate on Tracy’s vehicle and found that vehicle’s registration was suspended due to insurance. After stopping the vehicle, police said the officer noticed a distinct and pronounced odor of an alcoholic beverage on Tracy’s breath. In addition his eyes were red and glassy and his speech was slow, police said. Tracy reportedly failed field sobriety tests and reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test. Tracy was also charged with driving under suspension and insufficient insurance. He was later released after posting bond.
