Brush Fire Ignites on Merritt Parkway

The area of the fire between exits 42 and 44 was approximately 500 square feet.

A brush fire erupted on the median of the Merritt Parkway eastbound between exits 42 and 44.

When the Westport fire department arrived on Monday afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m., the area of  fire was approximately ten by fifty feet.

The fire was quickly extinguished and both engine companies continued to wet down the area because of the extremely dry conditions. Fairfield assisted in putting out the fire.
