Car Crashes into Utility Pole

This was the fourth car accident Friday to which firefighters responded.

The Westport Fire Department responded to a fourth motor vehicle accident Friday morning in which a Volkswagen Jetta hit and severed a utility pole on Greens Farms Road.

The driver was not injured in the crash, according to a news release from Assistant Chief Robert Kepchar. Firefighters checked him for injuries and he refused transport to the hospital, according to Kepchar.

Firefighters stood by until utility workers responded and started the process of replacing the pole, Kepchar said in the release. The car was towed from the scene. The last fire department unit left the scene at 12:29 p.m.
