COPS: Drunk Westport Driver Asleep at Wheel, Triple the Legal Limit

Norwalk police arrested a Westport man Thursday on a warrant for driving under the influence, police said.

On April 8 at about 2:30 a.m. Norwalk police found a running vehicle stopped in the middle of East Avenue on the I-95 overpass, according to an arrest report.

The officer opened the door and yelled to the driver, but he would not wake up. The officer then checked the driver's pulse and gave him a sternum rub in order to wake him up, police said.

The driver, identified as 30-year-old Arthur Habighorst, of Westport, had a blood alcohol level of 0.24, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence.

Habighorst was issued a $5,000 bond. He was arraigned May 2.
