A Westport woman was charged with driving under the influence on Friday after the car she was reportedly driving struck the rear of a marked police cruiser.

The incident -- which sent the officer in the cruiser to Norwalk Hospital with minor injuries -- occurred around 7:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Post Road East and Cedar Road. Responding officers spoke with the driver of the car that struck the cruiser and noted there was a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle and person.

The driver -- identified as Tammie Sergerson, 53, of Greens Farms Road, reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. She was charged with driving under the influence and following too closely.
