Detectives responded on November 13 to Norwalk Superior Court to serve three active arrest warrants on a man who allegedly broke into Westport / Weston Family YMCA lockers and stole and used credit cards to fraudulently purchase items, police said.
Detectives viewed video surveillance of the alleged criminal acts and were able to identify the suspect from a previous arrest for a similar incident where credit cards were being stolen from the Westport / Weston YMCA, police said.
Westport police charged 41-year-old Ilir Gecaj, of Shelton, with two counts of illegal use of a credit card, two counts of credit card theft, third-degree forgery, third-degree larceny, second-degree identity theft (impersonation) and third-degree conspiracy to commit identity theft (impersonation), according to the arrest report.
Gecaj was issued a $60,500 bond on three separate arrest warrants. He is due in court on November 21.
