Credit Card Swindler Tries to Trick Westport Business, Gets Arrested

The suspect was found with numerous fraudulent credit cards in his possession.

Westport police charged 23-year-old Joshua Dennison, of Jamaica, New York, with unlawful reproduction of a credit card, illegal use of another person’s credit card, and attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Dennison had unsuccessfully attempted to purchase a gift card in Walgreen’s with several different credit cards at about 9 p.m. Monday, police said.

Police described this is a common practice one will attempt when using fraudulent credit cards.

Officers found numerous other credit cards with Dennison’s name on them after they stopped his vehicle, police said.  All of the cards appeared to be fake and had very similar account numbers on them, according to police.
