and the Westport animal control unit responded to Wednesday after a concerned citizen reported a dog was inside of a car with the windows closed, police said.
The owner of the dog was located inside Goodwill, which is located at 1700 Post Road East.
Westport police issued a misdemeanor summons to 53-year-old Stacey Williams, of 9 Marine Avenue, Westport, for cruelty to animals and for having an unlicensed dog.
Williams was released on a promise to appear in court August 6.
