Cyclist Crashes Into Van on West Parish Road Thursday Morning

Accident at intersection with Hillandale Road after cyclist failed to stop at stop sign.

An accident between a van and a bicyclist on Hillandale Road Thursday morning resulted in the cyclist being brought to Norwalk Hospital, luckily without life-threatening injuries.

According to police, 52-year-old Westport resident Alix Boyer was riding his bike east on Hillandale Road shortly before 11 a.m. and passed through the intersection with West Parish Road without stopping for the stop sign.

A 2005 Chevrolet Express Van driven by Michael Troiano, 22, of New Fairfield, was traveling north on West Parish Road when Boyer’s bike struck the left side of the vehicle.

An investigation at the scene showed that Troiano was “established within the intersection… just prior to the crash,” according to the police report, which also noted that there is no stop sign for northbound traffic at the intersection.

Boyer was treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital.

Westport Police Patrol Division is investigating the incident.
