Deer Likely Caused Two-Car Accident on Merritt

Fire officials say accident appears to have been caused after one of the cars struck a deer crossing the road.

A two-car motor vehicle accident with injuries that occurred between Exits 44 and 42 on the Merritt Parkway south at about 10:34 p.m. Tuesday appears to have been caused after one of the cars struck a deer crossing the road, officials from the Westport Fire Department said.

The Westport Fire Department assisted the Fairfield Fire Department in responding to the accident. Firefighters assisted with first aid and stabilization of the patients prior to EMS arrival.

The driver of each vehicle was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
