Drunk Westport Man Chases After Child, Resists Arrest

The man refused to get in the police car and began to kick the car door after being charged.

 

The man was seen operating a vehicle erratically while a small child was walking with a parent at about 6:45 Friday evening, police said.

While on The Mews, a street in town, the driver exited his vehicle, spoke to the parent and soon began to chase after the parent’s child, police said.

When officers arrived it was apparent that the man had been drinking, as officers could smell alcohol on his breath. While being placed under arrest, the man resisted being placed in the rear seat of the patrol car and kicked the door, police said.

charged 39-year-old Brian Turano, of 103 Bradley Lane, Westport, with DUI, risk of injury to a minor, interfering with an officer (simple assault) and third-degree criminal mischief.

“During the booking process Turano was uncooperative and non-compliant and began struggling with officers,” said Westport Police Captain John Calka.

He was released on $9,000 bond and is due in court August 9.
