The man was seen operating a vehicle erratically while a small child was walking with a parent at about 6:45 Friday evening, police said.
While on The Mews, a street in town, the driver exited his vehicle, spoke to the parent and soon began to chase after the parent’s child, police said.
When officers arrived it was apparent that the man had been drinking, as officers could smell alcohol on his breath. While being placed under arrest, the man resisted being placed in the rear seat of the patrol car and kicked the door, police said.
