Westport police charged 20-year-old Blake Haehl, of Fairfield, with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and sale of a controlled substance, according to an arrest report.
Haehl was stopped at about 11:30 p.m. Monday on Post Road East for having dark tinted windows and for having a non-functional brake light, police said.
When the officer approached the vehicle he could smell a strong odor of marijuana, police said.
Haehl told the officers that he had a "bong" in the vehicle. When the officers searched the car they found a scale, baggies containing marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia commonly used with marijuana, police said.
Haehl was taken into custody and released after posting a $5,000 bond. He is due in court May 17, police said.
