Small fire of unknown cause was on top of a storage container.
Westport firefighters faced easy work today extinguishing a rubbish fire behind a jewelery store.
In a news release, Asst. Chief Robert Yost said that because the fire was reported to be against the building, two engine companies and a truck company were dispatched.
The 12:12 p.m. report from Princess Jewelers, 578 Post Rd. East, was that smoke was coming from the top of a storage container behind the business.

Yost said a small amount of rubbish on top of the metal container was found smoldering, and a water extinguisher was used to quell it. He said the rubbish was then removed from the box, and it was determined neither the building nor the box were damaged.
Yost said the cause of the fire was under investigation, and all units cleared the scene at 12:24 p.m.
