Four Charged Following Westport Altercation

A protective order was violated during the domestic dispute.

Westport police charged Philip McGorty, 35, of Fairfield, and Kate Carbone, 30, of Oxford, with creating a public disturbance. Jason Smith, 27, of Bethany, was charged with breach of peace at 2 a.m. on Nov. 3

29-year-old Tara Mazzarella, of 94 Saugatuck Avenue, Westport was charged with breach of peace and a criminal violation of a protective order, according to a police report. McGorty was the protected party.

The order indicated the two are to have no communication or contact and that Mazzarella is not allowed to be within 100 yards of McGorty, according to the police report.

Due to the active protective order, Mazzarella was taken into custody. Mazzarella posted a $500 cash bond and was released. She was scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on the date of her arrest.
