Gum Bandit Arrested by Westport Police

Arrests from May 20-22.

The following arrest information was provided by the Westport Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Police arrested a Westport teen for allegedly stealing gum from a gas station earlier this month. He also faces some marijuana charges.

Cody Ropiak, 19, of Riverside Avenue, was charged sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia May 20.

On May 5, Ropiak and an undisclosed accomplice allegedly stole two boxes of gum valued between $40 to $60 from the at 1510 Post Road E. Two weeks later, Ropiak was arrested and police found marijuana and paraphernalia on him. His bail was set at $2,500 and he’s scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on May 31.
