Man Flees Accident in Westport, Charged with DUI

The suspect reportedly left the scene of a Hales Road accident that he was involved in.

A Bridgeport man was charged with driving under the influence after he allegedly left the scene of an accident in Westport.

Daniel Riley, 30, of Jewett Avenue, reportedly fled from an accident he was involved in on Hales Road in Westport later Friday. Officers spotted his vehicle in the area of the Sherwood Island Connector and initiated a motor vehicle stop.

During the stop, Riley reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was detained. He was charged with DUI, failure to maintain his lane while driving, evading the scene of an accident, traveling unreasonably fast, and failure to have insurance, according to the arrest report.

Riley was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 12.
