Man Robs First County Bank on Westport Avenue

Norwalk Police say the lone robber passed a note to a bank employee and fled with an undetermined amount of cash Thursday.


Norwalk Police are investigating the robbery of  the First County Bank branch at 469 Westport Ave. on Thursday morning.

According to a police statement, at 10:09 a.m., the suspect entered the bank and passed a note to a bank employee. At 10:12 a.m., the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is a black male, approximately 5-foot-6, weighing 170 pounds with a scruffy beard. He was wearing baggy pants, a black hat, a white windbreaker jacket, work gloves and was carrying a transparent bag.

No weapons were displayed and no one was injured, police said.

The K-9 Unit conducted a search of the area. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident and the Crime Scene Unit is processing the scene for evidence.
