Man's Small Sailboat Capsizes Off Compo Beach

Marine officers find him wet but unhurt.

A man was plucked from Long Island Sound Sunday afternoon after his small sailboat capsized.

Westport Police marine officers were notified at about 12:15 p.m. of an overturned sailboat off Westport's Compo Beach.

Traveling in the Police Department's Marine Two vessel, they reached the man, who was holding on to his swamped Sailfish.

He was brought aboard Marine Two and his sailboat was towed back to land.

He was uninjured, said shift commander Sgt. David Farrell, "but grateful" to be was rescued.
