Multi-Vehicle Accident Under Investigation

The Westport Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle accident that occurred just before 8 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Kings Highway North and Wilton Road.

The Westport Fire Department also responded and checked both drivers for injuries as they secured the scene, putting down speedi-dri to absorb fluids and disconnecting the batteries to prevent electrical problems. Both drivers were turned over to Westport EMS for further evaluation and they refused transport to the hospital, Assistant Fire Chief Robert Kepchar said in a news release.

Both cars had heavily damaged front ends and had to be towed from the scene. Westport Police diverted traffic from the area for the duration of the evaluation and cleanup. The last Westport Fire Department unit left the scene at 8:34 a.m.
