Pair of "Sightseers" Caught with Drug Stash

Police seized more than 300 Oxycodone pills from a pair of men

Two self-described sightseers traveling from Florida to Massachusets were found holding a stash of drugs after being stopped by police on Monday night.

Ryan O'Donnell, 19, of Florida and Robert O'Neill, 32, of Massachusetts, were found with 309 Oxycodone pills, a small amount of marijuana, a box of plastic baggies, a scale and other assorted drug paraphernalia.

Before the arrest, an officer saw O'Donnell driving a Chevrolet Impala northbound on Riverside Avenue and failing to stop for a red light at the intersection of Route 1. O'Donnell then performed an illegal U-turn on Wilton Road.  When pulled over, the pair claimed to be sightseeing, but the officer had "reasonable suspicion to request that O'Donnell submit to a voluntary search of the vehicle," according to a police press release.

Backup officers arrived and when O'Neill stepped out of the car, a large baggie containing Oxycodone fell from his waistband. The rest of the drugs and $789.95 in mostly small bills were found in the vehicle.

Both men were charged with sale/distribution of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, marijuana and paraphernalia. O'Donnell was held in police custody pending a $50,000 bond. O'Neil was held with a $10,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 9.
