Here are the latest crime reports from the Westport Police Department:

  • Stewart Snow, 65, of Westport was arrested Tuesday on a DUI charge.
  • Anna Vette Caran-Fried, 35, of Southport was arrested Wednesday on a charge of issuing a bad check. Caran-Fried turned herself in. The case stems from October when a local business complained she had written them a bad check and they were unable to contact her to collect on it.
  • Peter Dunlop, 45, of Southport was arrested Thursday on charges of DUI and interfering with an officer. Dunlop was seen by an off-duty Westport police officer driving erratically with a civilian friend on Clapboard Hill Rd. The officer made several attempts to attract Dunlop’s attention by flashing his lights and sounding the horn to no avail, according to a police report. The officer contacted headquarters by cell phone while he and his friend continued to follow Dunlop. When Dunlop came to a stop in front of his house in Southport, the officer approached and identified himself. Dunlop was combative and resisted the officer as well as the uniformed officers from both Westport and Fairfield PD that had arrived at the scene. The officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on Dunlop’s breath. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. Dunlop refused to take breath tests, according to the police report.

  • Paul Callahan, 46, of Stamford was arrested Friday on a DUI charge.

A complaint was received from the Local 371 workers who are picketing The Fresh Market at 605 Post Road East that Whitted had slashed the large inflatable rat that they used at their picket line. Whitted was taken into custody without incident and later admitted that he had slashed the inflatable rat because he is frustrated with the picketers, according to a police report.
